Macalaster, Amy, and WoW

I doubt any of you are starting to look at colleges, or even thinking about colleges (cause I'm not), but I do have to completely advertise Macalaster, because it's an amazing school that I think you all would really like.

First of all, it's a pretty small college. Which means that there's like, 15-19 students in each class, so you'd get to know the professor really well. Like, you get to know them on the first day you're there, which to me, is a really good thing because I like small classes better than oh, say 200 to 300 people in a class at huge colleges like Harvord.

Also, it's an incredibly balanced school, focusing on not only the arts and theatre but also science and chemistry. They have a really cool theatre, and the seats in there are on the movable pillar things so that people can set up the audience seats in really cool ways. It's pretty awesome. The school also has a lot of different language courses. They don't suggest taking a language you took for a long time, because you'd just be going through the colors and days and numbers from 1 to 10 again. But they offer languages like Italian and ancient greek and arabic and a bunch of other REALLY cool languages (btw, you can get pretty much any job if you know arabic *hint*hint*). The school is also really diverse, so that's always a plus.

But, yeah, it's a really good college. I reccomend it to anyone.

Alright, I admit my musical tastes don't usually involve R&B/Soul music (with only a few exceptions like the Jackson 5), but OH MY GOD, Amy Winehouse is the coolest R&B singer ever. 1. she's got an amazing deep, powerful black voice, 2. her music is very jazzy, slow, sad and relaxing, 3. It's MUSIC. She doesn't put any digital voices in the background, which, if you're doing R&B, is just stupid. She's just great. I suggest looking her up on itunes.

I got to level 70 on WoW (World of Warcraft)! And for those who don't know, level 70 is the highest level you can get on it. I know nobody else will care except Maggie, but I'm so proud of myself. It's taken me over a year, pretty much out of sure laziness. But it feels great :D

Up North

I'm just about to go up north to Bluefin Bay (it's near Lake Superior). And I'm really tired.

Maybe I'll update the blog later to talk about it.

Btw, I forgot to mention that 4ish days ago it was Gremlin's Place
1st anniversary. Yay.

LOTR

Alright. So, watching all three LOTR movies down in the basement during a beautiful, hot, sunny summer day, but to be honest, I'm glad I did it. Because it was totally and completely worth it. Sucked out my entire day, yes, but it was fun.

I started watching them at around 10:30(am), and would stop periodically after each film, while the credits rolled, to get some food, say hi to my parents, before going downstairs and starting a new movie. When I needed to move I acted parts of the movie out. But otherwise, watching them all in a row just made me fall in love with Lord of the Rings more and more. They're just simply great, and with more messages and themes about friendship and loyalty than you'd expect from a fantasy epic.

Overrall, it was a really fun day. Maybe I'll do it again sometime, if it's like, pouring rain out or else just a crappy day in general.

I highly reccomend doing this, for anyone who likes LOTR. Or, if you don't, just sit down and watch a series till you drop.

Oh, and last night I had a dream our school was being overrun by orcs (yay!). Then my dream switched and I had to bake cupcakes for Pippin's grandmother. Bah. That's what I get for watching 12 hours of LOTR.

But, no lies. I had those dreams, and both of them were epic ('cept for when I put the blue frosting in the milk and I got whipped... >_>)

But, anyway, I'm gonna be fairly busy for the next sixish days. I'll be going to a certain cabin this weekend, then will be going up north immediately the following day after I get back from the certain cabin to go up north to Bluefin Bay. So that should be fun :D

BWAHAHAHAHAHA

Okay. Suckish feeling gone. I feel so peaceful right now. I've got this whole summer ahead of me, and just the thought of that makes me all giddy and excited.

I was gonna post about the party after everyone left, but I'll do that later. Bye!

WOOOOOOAAAaaawww?

School is out.

Gone. Done with.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I feel so giddy right now. Oh my god. Summer. Summer summer summer. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

HAHA!
HAH!

*sigh*...

Now I can just squeeze all of school out of me and enjoy the three months of bliss.

Minus the summer reading, of course.

But still.

SUMMER!

Although I do have some regrets mixed in with my happy feelings. It kinda sucks that I won't be able to see my teachers today, and that I won't see the end-of-year video thing, because I've always loved those (6th grade one was the best imo). Did I mention it sucks I won't be able to see my teachers again?

Oh yeah.

The prospect of being a freshman doesn't really appeal to me either. I'm trying not to care, saying the stuff I used to say to myself ALL the time, that you can still visit teachers, being older doesn't mean you have to act older, for god's sake you're still a little girl to some people's eyes, etc. etc., but the idea of having one year left at South View before moving onto the freaking High School scares the crap out of me.

Oh well. Probably by the end of the day I'll be completely fine and not worry about the future and what it holds. I just have these temporary periods of sadness when I think about growing older in general >:I

But anyway, I'll be able to play WoW more! WOW, what a prospect! I can't wait. I WILL get Brin to 70 this summer. I will. She's almost level 68 anyway, so I don't think I'll have too much trouble. It's taken over a year, but hey, at least I've got my priorities in the right place, eh?

Well, no. That's just cause of laziness. Gack.

And now to watch Sweeney Todd... again!

!!!!

I'll start by saying that it's usually hard for me to get really angry. I can get annoyed, or irritated, but for the most part I consider myself a fairly laid back person.

Until I talked to Josea.

I did think of the possibility of her not recommending me, but it didn't seem realistic. I mean, why not let me do it? It wasn't like I didn't get the math concepts, or I was failing.

But I guess I'm not smart enough for Josea. Here's how it went:

It was after class. Josea happened to be erasing the board, so I walked up to her to ask about an apparent missing assignment. Luckily she found it, so that was taken care of.

After that I tell her about taking the geometry course over the summer, and how I needed my math teacher's reccomendation. Being the selfish, arrogant person that I am, I of course expected her to say yes without a thought, but instead I got a sudden, "No," that felt literally like a slap in the face. She said that she would only reccomend students with a consistent 97% grade or higher in her class.

"Not that I don't think your smart, but I just don't think you'd have a proper foundation for the advanced math course next year," was what she said.

I was still somewhat shocked, so I just said okay. As I was walking away, she said, "But I know you're gonna rock next year in geometry!"

OH PLEASE.

Sorry. I'm pissed. Beyond reason. If I had had any other math teacher they would have let me. And, not trying to make excuses, but the ONLY reason I get lower grades is not because I don't get math concepts, but because of organization.

Hopefully I can get into the geometry class this summer without the Barney Nazi. I really hope so. If not I'm gonna murder something.

Weekend Wonders

Well, so far this weekend has been pretty dece. Ironically, the one weekend I don't play with any friends is the weekend where I have the most to do.

For example, last night I ate delicious pasta with my parents (my brother is gone for a gigantic debate tournament in Kansas) then played Scrabble with them. I got last place, as usual when I'm playing with my family, but I got over 110 points, so I'm proud of myself for that. yay

I watched Devil Wears Prada. I hate fashion but I love watching shows and movies about it. I forgot how funny the movie was.

I tried biking earlier today but the wind attacked me like an angry mob. My eyes were tearing up by the time I got home 'cause it was so cold. It was pretty bad.

Bella went to the groomer's today. I went with my mom to pick her up and she looks like a puppy now, cause her fur is all cut and clean ^_^

My mom paid me five dollars to bring all nineteen bags of Mother Bears to the car. For those who didn't know, Mother Bear is an organization that sends knit teddy bears to kids in Africa. So, with the loving grace of one who cares the most, I kicked, hauled, dragged and threw those suckers into the car. If those kids end up with beaten up teddy bears, I blame the shipments.

I went to Jerry's with my dad and got oreo cakesters and other healthy stuff. Then we went to blockbuster and got Juno, which I'm gonna watch tonight (not that I don't get enough dirty jokes as it is).

Tomorrow I'm attending a flag ceremony. It's awesome, because Rebecca and I get to carry the flags, which gives me an excuse to act like a soldier and feel important.

I've been toying around with different story ideas for too long. I'm thinking of just going with the Jamboree story I started (/ended) back in August. I'm a bit worried about starting it though, because there are some things that happened back then that I remember, but I don't remember how it got started. Plus it'd be nice if I had a few more pictures/journal entries/misc. to remember things I would have otherwise missed. But I've got the general picture... I just wish the memories were more fresh.

I'll post the first few chapters I wrote back in August if y'all want.
